RUSSIAN FASHION AWARDS

The first Russian Fashion Awards (RFA) will take place on June 19, 2005 in Moscow. The ceremony will be held in the International House of Music.


The Awards will be presented according to the collections from 2004 in the categories "Best Women's Designer", "Best Men's Designer", "Best New Designer" and, finally, "Best Designer 2004". In addition, a block of nominations will be dedicated to beauty and style, including, "Best Stylist", "Best Model" and more.

Russian Fashion Awards' Organizing Committee is requesting your participation as a voting jury and committee member. Please join us as we make fashion history.

We value your knowledge of fashion and your expertise in the areas of style and design. We look forward to your professional and unbiased judgment in selecting the designer whose work radiated on an international level.

Below is a selected group of ten Russian pret-a-porter designers (in alphabetical order) who have been selected as nominees. The winner will be privately announced 1 week before the Award Ceremony.
Daria Razumikhina


Razu Mikhina is the trademark and logo of designer Daria Razumikhina. Daria was born and grew up in Moscow, graduated from Moscow University and is the Candidate Doctor of Philology (PhD in philology). From 1995 to 1999 studied design at the 'star' Saint-Martin's College in London where Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Rifat Ozbek, Hussein Chalayan and Stella McCartney graduated from.
She presented her first collection in Moscow in January 1999.
Daria took part at the Pret-a-Porter Salon in Paris and became the first Russian designer to take part at London Designer Exhibition in September 1999.

Razumikhina accepts and carries out orders from different boutiques worldwide. Her collections are made from traditional RAZU MIKHINA materials of Russian make, using hand trimming: embroidery, applique works, crocheted, frivolite. Razu Mikhina also creates original accessories: bracelets, necklaces and belts made of safety pins…

Egor Zaitsev


Egor Zaitsev - son of Vyacheslav Zaitsev, Russian famous couturier, master of Russian fashion.
1983 - After graduation started his work in the Moscow Fashion House of Vyacheslav Zaitsev.
The very first collection by Egor Zaitsev appeared to be his diploma - 6 men official jumpers and trousers, which were included by Vyacheslav Zaitsev into the evening part of his fashion-show.
Later on Egor created many collections for fashion shows, the Fashion Theatre, Model Agencies.
Created outfits for many Russian famous musicians, movies, circus, figure skaters. 1998 - won the Grand Prix at Sochi fashion festival "Velvet Seasons in Sochi". Since spring 2004 - participant of Russian Fashion Week in Moscow where he was admitted as one of the best RFW designers.

Julia Dalakian


One of the brightest fashion designers famous in Russia and abroad. For several years cooperated with Cavalli Italian Fashion House. Participant of international exhibitions, trade fairs, shows in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Brussels, New York, Milan. Author of the idea to create Russian pret-a-porter week "New Millenium".
Started with Moscow State University student theatre, where she used to be the Queen of avant-garde.
1989 - graduated from Moscow Textile Academy.
During the next several years became one the brightest fashion designers famous in Russia as well as abroad.
1992 - created the author atelier "Julia", where politicians, businessmen, show-business stars and celebrities - i.e. people, which appreciate their image - get dressed today.
September 26, 2003 - opening of Julia Dalakian's boutique.
Since 1991 - participant of international fairs, exhibitions and shows in Berlin, Brussels, Dusseldorf, New York, Milan.
Winner of "Moda In" exhibition (Gold medal) (Milan, Italy), Second prize of "Dress 1996" content.
November 5, 2004 - presented the pret-a-porter collection spring-summer 2004 "You can NOT live without me" at the annual Russian Fashion Week. The collection was very light due to light fabrics: crepe, georgette, stretch net, lain, cotton and silk by Fabric Frontline - trendy pseudo-shick. The fabrics make one feel that life should be accepted humorously only. Cobweb bodies with tattoo-like applications, loads of embroidery, flowers and colors highlight individuality, temperament and style.
April 6, 2005 - a successful client show held within the frameworks of Russian Fashion Week in the State Armory. The latest "Tesoro" fall-winter 2005-2006 collection by Julia Dalakian was presented for the first time in fashion history within the walls of the Moscow Kremlin.

Lena Makashova


Bare facts of the Past:
1952 - born in Moscow.
30 years dedicated to her profession.
1972 - graduated from Moscow Institute of Light Industry. Profession: designer.
1983-1986 - her work as an artist in Vyacheslav Zaitsev's House considers to be one of the most important moments in her professional biography was
1990 - opening of "Lena Makashova Fashion House".
1999 - graduated from Moscow State University of Technology "Stankin". Profession: Economy and Management in Business.
Bare facts of the Present:
Today appears to be the General Director and Chief Artist of "Lena Makashova Fashion House" trade house. Owns a "SHIRPOTREB" shop in Moscow. Year sales volume - 15,000 items. 70 employees working for the Company. Her customers: smart, independent people with unusual and vulnerable soul.

Masha Sharoeva


After obtaining higher musical education Masha Sharoeva studied at the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, took professor Oleg Savostyuk's classes in graphic arts and painting classes in professor Alexander Volkov's private studio. Masha's creative works presented at the entrance exam to Slava Zaitsev's Fashion Laboratory became her pass to the world of fashion and got a high appraisal by the Maestro. During her studies at the Fashion Laboratory Masha's collections won top awards at the "Russian Silhouette" contests and the SMIRNOFF Design International prize. Her "Materialization of Space" collection was the winner at the professional designers' contest named after Nadezhda Lamanova.
As the best 2001 graduate Masha was invited to take a practical course at "Saga Furs of Scandinavia" Saga Design Centre in Copenhagen. In October 2003 as a graduate of Slava Zaitsev's Fashion Laboratory she became one of the winners at the Russian "Velvet Seasons in Sochi" Fashion Festival.
Now Masha Sharoeva is a costume designer for such advertising agencies as A.C.Production,Art Pictures,Action Film, NFQ, Yartche! (Brighter!), Bazelevs movie studios and Nikita Mikhalkov's ThreeT studio. Her works received due acclaim from movie producers Pavel Chukhrai, Yaroslav Chevazhevsky, Andrei Lukashevitch, Vassily Chiginsky, Igor Zaitsev, cameramen Mikhail Agranovich, Vlad Opelianets, Igor Kozhevnikov.
As a stylist Masha works with famous variety singers, movie and stage actors. Recently she has completed designing costumes for Dzhanik Fayziev's Turkish Gambit film (ORT television project).

Higher musical education; Surikov Painting Academy; Professor Volkov's Graphics Studio; Slava Zaitsev's Fashion Laboratory; practical training in "Saga Furs of Scandinavia" Saga Design Centre, Copenhagen.

Max Chernitsov


Maksim Chernitsov 27 years old. Born in Magnitogorsk.
A-graduate of Magnitogorsk State Teacher's Training College.
2002 defended Ph. D. Thesis "Idea of Art Synthesis in works of literature and theoretical works of artists of Russian avant-garde of the early 20th century" dedicated to the creative works of Kandinsky, Philonov, Malevich. 2000-2002 was one of the organizers of the avant-guard fashion festival "Polovodje" (Magnitogorsk).
2001 - 2d award at the Russian final of the "Smirnoff International Fashion Awards" content (Russia, national final).
Since 2003 has been working upon the creation of the men's collection "MAX CHERNITSOV" (starting from spring/summer 2005 season has been creating women's collection of the same brand).
2004 cooperated with women's clothes brand "KOKOGEM Gallery", working at creativity agency Husky Promotions.

Olga Romina


Studied clothes design at Technology College.
Studied world art culture at the University.
Created her first creative collections when studying at Zaitsev Fashion Laboratory. Always present at every existent contest of young designers. Won prize spots at the Russian Silhouette, and Nadezhda Lomanova contest.
"I believe the most important things in my career to be the learning and illustrating the documentary at the Scandinavia's Saga Furs company. And showing my collection at The Russian Arts Festival in Cannes", says Romina.
Romina brand comes as a result of graduating from Higher School of Economics with the grade in Fashion Industry Management and Communications.
Her debut collection called "Organizing the Variable" (autumn/winter 2003-2004) presented at the Russian Fashion Week won the President's grant within the Action to Support Russian Theater Initiatives project. Romina brand clothes are for those who have active life position. For a girl that looks positively at the world.
She projects the love she attracts onto the people around her.
Her interest towards life in all its ways helps her success and well-being, her desire to surprise and to realize her dreams.
She is seldom depressed and she can be ironic towards herself. Her image creates the feeling of youthfulness, challenge, ease and freshness. Every piece demonstrates rare combination of trends and interesting designer decisions of sophisticated cut with functional and industrial quality of European brands.

Sultanna Frantsuzova


Sultanna Frantsuzova - fashion designer based in Moscow and Hong-Kong.
Graduated from Slava Zaitsev Fashion Laboratory.
Prize-winner of young designers' content after Nadezhda Lamanova.
Winner of a scholarship for studying at Milan Fine Arts Academy "Akademia scuola di Milano".
Participant of the international designers' content "Fashion Award" in Switzerland.
Winner of the grand "Theatre Initiatives Support Campaign/Activity" under support of the Culture and Arts Council of the President of Russian Federation.
Annual participant of Russian Fashion Week in Moscow.
Used to be the Creative Director of "Sortie de Bal" and "LO" trade marks.
Creates outfits for Russian TV stars.
Opened 3 boutiques of Sultanna Frantsuzova in Moscow.
